ABOUT

Elizabeth has been teaching yoga since 2007, after completing her teacher training with Vidya Heisel at Frog Lotus Yoga in North Adams, MA. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance and a Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).

Elizabeth’s yoga journey began after 16 years as a classical ballet dancer. Her teaching style, deeply influenced by her dance background, weaves together asana, pranayama, music, movement, spirituality, and somatic awareness. Elizabeth encourages students to tune into their intuition and honor what their body is communicating, cultivating a practice that adapts to the body’s needs in each moment.

For Elizabeth, yoga is a practice of decolonization—a path toward self-liberation and independence from the systems that seek to control our bodies, minds, and spirits. It calls us to disconnect from external pressures and reconnect with our inner wisdom, offering an alternative path where we can live peacefully, mindfully, and authentically with ourselves and others.

Elizabeth earned her BA in Liberal Studies from the Hutchins School at Sonoma State University (SSU) in California, where she examined personal identity through psychological, sociological, and cultural lenses, with a focus on global inequalities related to wealth, race, class, and gender. Her studies culminated in the development of a curriculum on social change, which was later adopted for instruction by the Hutchins School.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the awareness that each of us has within us the tools and knowledge needed to self-actualize and thrive, and it is simply a matter of connecting with and listening to our inner teacher.

After graduating, Elizabeth was invited back to SSU as an Adjunct Teacher in the School of Extended Education, where she designed and taught a course on Somatic Awareness. In this class, she guided students in recognizing and processing physical, mental, and emotional sensations. Through exercises in breath, sensory, and bodily awareness, Elizabeth helped students deepen self-knowledge, trust their bodies' signals, and understand their unique experiences.

This foundational work shapes Elizabeth's approach to yoga, where she emphasizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, and environment. She encourages students to explore their identities and cultivate mindfulness, creating a space for self-discovery and liberation. Through yoga, Elizabeth empowers individuals to connect with their authentic selves and engage meaningfully with others.
